State v. Todd P. Shellabarger

2007 CR 2105

Today, Defendant Todd P. Shellabarger entered a plea of Guilty as Charged to two counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.  The defendant was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury in June for his inappropriate actions with minor children under 13 years of age.

The defendant coached girls’ basketball and softball for approximately 10 years in the Brookville and Northmont area.  The defendant formerly coached the Dayton Vipers Basketball team.

As part of his plea, the defendant shall not coach juveniles in the future.  He faces a maximum of 5 years incarceration on each count and will be designated a Sexual Offender.  The defendant will be sentenced on October 23, 2007.

Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. said, “It is tragic that we see children in our community being victimized by a coach.  As parents, we need to do everything we can to insure that our children are safe from predators.  Talk to your children.  If you suspect there’s a problem, contact the police.”
