NDAA President

MATHIAS H. HECK, JR.  BECOMES  NEW  PRESIDENT  OF

THE  NATIONAL  DISTRICT  ATTORNEYS  ASSOCIATION

On July 31, 2006 Mathias H. Heck, Jr., accepted the gavel to begin his term as NDAA’s President from 2006-2007.  NDAA has over 7,000 members who represent approximately 30,000 prosecutors nationwide.  More than 95% of all crimes committed in America are prosecuted by state and local prosecutors.

Heck said, “I’m honored to be elected as NDAA’s President. I will work on the many challenges facing prosecutors today, including recruiting and retaining minorities as prosecutors and as members of NDAA.  I will work with Congress to pass loan forgiveness legislation to aid those who become prosecutors and public defenders, in an effort to recruit and retain the best and brightest attorneys.  I also will address initiatives to combat witness intimidation, reduce family violence, child abuse and elder abuse. I want to combat child pornography and be proactive in developing training to inform and increase public awareness of the affect the internet and chat rooms have on making our children vulnerable.”
