PROSECUTING ATTORNEY

After 26 years with
the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, James R. Levinson, the
Chief of our Criminal Division, advised several months ago of his
intention to retire this year. Mr. Levinson has been and is a most
dedicated, loyal and respected member of our staff, and his insight
and perspective will be missed.
In order to provide
for a smooth and orderly transition, his successor is being appointed
at this time.
Prosecuting Attorney
Mat Heck, Jr. announced today that Leon J. Daidone will be appointed
Chief of the Criminal Division of the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s
Office. Mr. Daidone has been an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for
over twenty-five years.
Prosecutor Heck said,
“Mr. Daidone’s proven leadership, dedication, and his exemplary trial
experience make him an excellent choice for this position.”
Mr. Daidone graduated
with honors in 1976 from Montclair State College in New Jersey and
graduated with honors from Ohio Northern University College of Law in
1979. After law school, Mr. Daidone returned to New Jersey where he
practiced law for two years.
In 1981, Mr. Daidone
returned to Ohio and joined the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s
Office. He began his career in the prosecutor’s office in the
Appellate Division, then was transferred to the Criminal Division. In
the Criminal Division, he served as a docket prosecutor, head of the
Career Criminal Unit, and on a multi-jurisdictional Organized Crime
Task Force. He has spent the last fourteen years as a member of the
Violent Crimes Bureau, prosecuting numerous homicide and other high
profile cases.
Mr. Daidone taught
criminal justice courses at Sinclair Community College for
approximately twenty-one years. He is also a lecturer for the
National District Attorneys Association and the Dayton Police
Academy.
He resides in Butler
Township with his wife, Connie, and two daughters.
