The Prosecutor is the legal advisor and attorney for all county elected
officials. Lawyers in the Civil Division provide legal opinions to all of the elected
officials and county departments, and represent Montgomery County in all lawsuits. The
Civil Division also represents most of the townships, and renders representation and
opinions on subjects such as taxation, zoning and annexation. As part of the Civil
Division, the DeTAC unit, (Delinquent Tax and Assessment Collection), pursues the
collection of delinquent taxes and returns the money to the county.
